Marbled Portrait, "Buck": A more complex version of masking. Three different layers were used to create the effect of a portrait -- even the white area is actually made of a very pale peacock, barely visible here. This time, none of the marbled patterns overlap or were printed on top of the others. The same effect of course could be achieved, at least from a distance, by cutting and pasting parts of three different papers together; but this was done the hard way, with the three different patterns all on one sheet.
